Best of January: Life Updates and Favorites

Hi! This is the first of my Monthly Newsletters where I will be talking about all of my favorite things from the month, plus a little life update.

My Top 3 Days

January started off so fabulously. I spent new year’s eve with my friends, I was getting to know someone that made me very happy, and I got to start out my year at my favorite place, Petty. We started the day with a mini PCH and by mini I mean it was me, Brooke, Todd, and Elliot. We got lunch at Piada, which is like chipotle for pasta (I was floored), and picnicked in Memorial Park. We took a nice long walk after, which is one of my favorite things to do in Houston. I was on one that day and was being the goofiest version of myself. We all ate dinner together and then went and got ice cream. What sounds better than that day? Nothing.

Now my second weekend of January was not so great, to be honest with you I would give it a 2/10, but as I have mentioned before I have the best community and am doing way better now. Long story short I had to let go of some hopes that I had which involved a really wonderful, kind, and amazing person. If things went the way I wanted them to go that would have been way more awesome, but such is life.

Now onto the fun stuff, because I am from Pennsylvania I am used to the snow. I had it from October through April for 22 years of my life. Before I moved to Texas, I was sick of it and was so ready to be as far away as possible from the cold. Winter in Houston is 2 weeks long, it doesn’t snow, and it just feels cold because we live in 90 degree weather for the majority of the year. The snow on January 21st was definitely one of my most fun days ever in Houston. However, I looked like a crazy person because all of my snow gear is in PA.

What you can’t see from this photo is that I have green sweat pants on, my old Ugg’s and nothing waterproof. Which is crazy. But I trekked to Petty and to MKT and played in the snow and made a mini snow man and had the best time. This ended up being a five day weekend for me and while I love not going to work, I am ready for warmer weather now thanks.

Earlier in the month we had a fire at Petty which lead to my third favorite January moment: Yoyo’s. Now if you have never had a Yoyo’s Hot Dog you are missing out big time and your life will never be complete. I mean c’mon look at that deliciousness.

Hayden, Branson, and Gabe shocked me when they said they had never had one, so I took it upon myself to force them to go. We showed up and all three men were confused that there was only one thing on the menu. You guessed it: a hot dog (They were weird for this and should have had more trust in me honestly). We ordered, I kept myself from ordering two, like the quaint lady I am. When they began to eat their dogs all I head was a hum of approval from Hayden and from Branson, “Oh, they did something with that one.” (See meme below created by Gabe) I am confident that they had the best hot dog experience of their entire lives. We introduced Hayden to Charli XCX on the way home and jammed out. It was a really good night.

Okay on to the favorites of the month.

Top 3 Songs On Repeat

Top 3 Things I have been obsessed with:

Ninja Creami.

Get one of these asap. Brooke and I have been making Oreo McFlurrys with it and it has made me not want to buy ice cream ever again. Hopefully in February I will have more fun flavors to report. Our next hope is to try a matcha flavor.

Love Island All-Stars.

A new season is currently happening and I do not know why but if I am gonna watch a reality TV show its gonna be Love Island all day, every day. It is so entertaining. Watching all the girls kiss the boys in the kissing challenge and the boys have to rate their kisses while blindfolded?! Seeing peoples exes walk in as bombshells?! Would I partake? Heck no! But will I watch and enjoy? Heck yes! It’s like Bachelor in Paradise on steroids and I will never stop watching.

This account has quickly become my favorite account on Instagram by far! She is a surreal digital collage artist and all of her pieces are amazing. I hope one day, my collages are at the same caliber as hers! I am thinking of buying a print for my wall. Check her out!
